Frequently Asked Questions

How Does it Work?

Acupuncture uses small, fine, flexible needles to stimulate the life energy known as "Qi" that flows along invisible channels beneath the surface of the skin. There are twelve main channels or "meridians", most of which are associated with an organ of the body.

When you visit an acupuncurist, she takes your pulse at several points along the wrist and looks at the shape, color, and coating of your tongue. The acupuncturist will also look at the color and texture of your skin, your posture, and other physical characteristics. Small needles will be in the areas that address the problem area and are removed at the end of the session painlessly.

What results can I expect from acupuncture?

Most people are surprised at how relaxed they feel after an acupuncture treatment. Symptom relief is often immediate, but several treatments are often needed to remain symptom free in between visits.

Does it hurt?
